D.L Anderson
German Soul
D.L. Anderson makes visual meals in the American South as a director, cinematographer, and editor, and is co-founder of Vittles Films, the Durham documentary studio behind FARMER/VETERAN (PBS Independent Lens), STAY PRAYED UP (Telluride, New York Times Critics’ Pick), and THE DECIDERS: RED, WHITEVILLE AND BLUE (Full Frame 2024). He came to film through print photojournalism and still brings a reporter’s instincts to every project: find the real story, earn trust, stay accountable. With GERMAN SOUL, Anderson and co-director Justin Robinson extend nearly two decades of collaboration into live documentary performance, weaving film, music, and food into a communal reckoning with the origins of Southern cuisine.
