Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration

What is Día de Muertos?
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed. Families create ofrendas (altars) with photographs, favorite foods, and meaningful objects to celebrate their lives and memories.
Join us for traditional dances by Grupo Folklórico and music by the UNCG Latin American Folk Music Ensemble as we build a community Ofrenda de Muertos together. This gathering offers an opportunity to celebrate, learn, and connect through shared traditions.
Guests are invited to bring a small framed photo (up to 4″ × 6″) and/or a meaningful object for the ofrenda. “The altar will remain on display at the Tannenbaum Center for one week following the event, and items may be picked up before Wednesday, November 11, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The event will conclude at 12:45 p.m. to allow students time to transition to their 1:00 p.m. classes.
