SUMMARY:Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The College of Visual and Performing Arts\, the Office of Intercultural Engagement\, Weatherspoon Art Museum\, and the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice invite you to join us in celebrating Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) as we honor and remember loved ones who have passed. 💀🕯🌸\nWhat is Día de Muertos? \nDía de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed. Families create ofrendas (altars) with photographs\, favorite foods\, and meaningful objects to celebrate their lives and memories.\nJoin us for traditional dances by Grupo Folklórico and music by the UNCG Latin American Folk Music Ensemble as we build a community Ofrenda de Muertos together. This gathering offers an opportunity to celebrate\, learn\, and connect through shared traditions. \nGuests are invited to bring a small framed photo (up to 4″ × 6″) and/or a meaningful object for the ofrenda. The altar will remain on display at the Tannenbaum Center for one week following the event\, and items may be picked up before Wednesday\, November 11\, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. \nThe event will conclude at 12:45 p.m. to allow students time to transition to their 1:00 p.m. classes. \n“May the light of the candles and the beauty of the marigolds remind us of the enduring love and cherished memories we hold for those who have gone before us.”
